Wales Begin Craig Bellamy Era With Point As 10 Man Turkey Hold Out

Wales Begin Craig Bellamy Era with Point as 10-Man Turkey Hold Out

Bellamy Makes His Mark

Craig Bellamy's first match as Wales manager ended in a 1-1 draw against Turkey in Antalya on Thursday. Kieffer Moore put Wales ahead in the 58th minute, but Turkey equalized through Cengiz Under just three minutes later.

The match was also notable for the sending off of Turkey's Ozan Kabak in the 75th minute. The defender was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Brennan Johnson.

Moore's Moment

Moore's goal was his fourth for Wales in his last five appearances. The Cardiff City striker has been in excellent form for his club this season, scoring 12 goals in 19 games.

Moore's goal was the result of a fine move by Wales. Gareth Bale played a defense-splitting pass to Harry Wilson, who squared the ball for Moore to tap home.

Turkey's Response

Turkey responded well to going behind. They equalized through Under, who scored a fine goal from the edge of the area.

The goal was a result of poor defending by Wales. Connor Roberts was caught out of position, allowing Under to create space for himself.

Red Card Changes Game

The sending off of Kabak changed the game. Turkey were forced to play with 10 men for the last 15 minutes, and Wales were able to take advantage.

Wales had several chances to win the game late on. Bale hit the crossbar with a free kick, and Wilson had a shot saved by the goalkeeper.

Bellamy Pleased with Draw

Bellamy was pleased with his team's performance, despite the draw.

"I thought we played well," said Bellamy. "We created a lot of chances, and we could have won the game. But I'm happy with a point."

Looking Ahead

Wales will now face the Czech Republic in a friendly on Tuesday.

The match will be Bellamy's first home game in charge of Wales. He will be hoping to build on the positive performance against Turkey.
