Angels' Rendon exits with elbow contusion

Third baseman hit by pitch in fourth inning

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon was removed from Friday night's game against the Atlanta Braves in the fourth inning due to a right elbow contusion.

Rendon was hit by a pitch from Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz in the third inning. He remained in the game to bat in the fourth, but was replaced by Luis Rengifo after grounding out.

Angels manager Brad Ausmus said after the game that Rendon is day-to-day.

Rendon's injury history

Rendon has a history of elbow injuries. He missed the final two months of the 2019 season with a bone spur in his right elbow.

The Angels are hopeful that Rendon's latest injury is not serious. He is one of the team's most important players, and his absence would be a major blow.
