Cavaliers Retake Series Lead with 118-111 Victory

Cleveland, Ohio - April 30, 2024

The Cleveland Cavaliers have retaken the lead in the Eastern Conference Finals after a hard-fought 118-111 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 on Tuesday night.

With the win, the Cavaliers now lead the series 3-2 and have a chance to close it out in Game 6 on Thursday night in Boston.

Darius Garland led the way for the Cavaliers with 25 points, followed by Donovan Mitchell with 24 points and Jarrett Allen with 23 points and 16 rebounds.

The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum with 32 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 27 points and Marcus Smart with 20 points.

The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than 10 points at any point.

The Cavaliers hit a big three-pointer to take a 10-point lead with just over two minutes remaining, and the Celtics were unable to rally back.

With the victory, the Cavaliers are now one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2018.
